In the vast and beautiful African savannah, there lived a wise and caring lioness named Nia. Nia was known for her kindness and willingness to help others. Her friends included Kofi the Monkey, Tamu the Tortoise, and Asha the Owl. They all admired Nia for her big heart.
Nia's Daily Routine
Every day, Nia would wake up early and start her day by helping others. She would help Kofi gather fruits, assist Tamu in seeing to his garden, and even carry messages for Asha the Owl. Nia was always busy, and although she loved helping her friends, she never took time for herself.
Feeling Tired
One day, Nia woke up feeling very tired. Her paws ached, her eyes were heavy, and she felt exhausted. But she still went out to help her friends, pushing herself to do everything she always did.
Kofi's Concern
Kofi the Monkey noticed that Nia looked very tired. "Nia, you don't look well. Why don't you rest today?" he suggested.
Nia shook her head. "I can't rest, Kofi. There are so many things to do and so many friends who need my help."
A Visit to Asha the Owl
Later that day, Nia visited Asha the Owl to deliver a message. Asha, who was very wise, saw how tired Nia looked. "Nia, you are always helping others, but you look so exhausted. You must take care of yourself too," Asha said gently.
Nia sighed. "I know, Asha, but I don't want to let anyone down."
The Story of the Empty Cup
Asha smiled kindly. "Let me tell you a story, Nia. Imagine you are a cup filled with water. Every time you help someone, you pour a little bit of your water into their cup. But if you never refill your own cup, what will happen?"
Nia thought for a moment. "My cup will eventually be empty."
"Exactly," Asha said. "You can't pour from an empty cup. If you don't take care of yourself and refill your own cup, you won't have the strength to help others."
Taking Time for Herself
Nia realized that Asha was right. She decided to take a break and spend the next few days resting and doing things she enjoyed. She basked in the sun, took long naps, and ate her favorite foods. Slowly, she felt her energy returning.
A Balanced Life
After resting, Nia felt much better. She went back to helping her friends, but this time she made sure to take breaks and care for herself too. She found that she was even better at helping others when she was well-rested and happy.
Sharing the Lesson
Nia shared the story of the empty cup with her friends. She explained how important it was to take care of themselves so they could be there for each other. Kofi, Tamu, and Asha all understood and agreed to make sure they also took time to rest and recharge.
A Healthier Community
The savannah community became stronger and healthier. The animals learned to balance helping others with taking care of themselves. They were happier, more energetic, and better able to support one another.
The Moral of the Story
Through Nia's experience, the animals learned a valuable lesson: you can't pour from an empty cup. Taking care of yourself is essential to being able to care for others. By ensuring their own well-being, they were able to create a supportive and thriving community.
And so, the animals of the savannah lived happily, always remembering to keep their cups full so they could continue to share their kindness and strength with one another.

An extremely important point. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I know the source of the water in my cup is in Him. Unless I stop to rest and refill at His feet, I will experience burnout and my efforts will be in vain. He is the source of living water. As we abide in Him, He abides in us.
Thank you for the wonderful stories. It continues to teach me so much❤️
